Samuel Lee Reid II is a native of Charlotte, NC. Prior to joining the ACRB, he held the position of Assistant Director of the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights, with primary responsibility for the Minneapolis Civilian Police Review Authority. Lee managed and directed that agency for six years. His interest in police conduct issues grew when he operated a community law office, where he advised a growing number of community members who were dealing with experiences related to police behavior.
Lee graduated from Morehouse College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He attended North Carolina Central University School of Law and School of Business where he received a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration. Prior to college, Lee served in United States Navy, aboard the USS John F. Kennedy, CV-67.
Lee has a wife and a son.
