Sherry B. Williams was nominated by the Atlanta Planning Advisory Board (APAB) to serve on the Atlanta Citizen Review Board to represent NPU’s G through L. The Atlanta City Council confirmed her nomination on March 17, 2014 to serve for a three year term.
Ms. Williams has served on a variety of community boards, commissions and initiatives in several major cities, advocating for justice, fairness, community outreach and empowerment. A native of Atlanta, Ms. Williams’s background includes twenty plus years of involvement with businesses, academic, non-profit organizations, commissions, special projects, business leaders and elected officials. Her community outreach experience includes areas of economic, education, health and other social disparities. She was active and in close partnership with the Community Alternative Policing Strategies, C.A.P.S., in Chicago.
Sherry Williams was employed as a branch manager at Cole Taylor Bank in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. She then held the position of Independent Senior Director for Mary Kay, Inc. in 1997. Ms. Williams later held the position of State Administrator and Community Liaison for the Arizona Democratic Party in Phoenix in 2008. In this position she liaised for community/minority/church groups, party caucuses, collaborating with national office staff to promote strategic issues, priorities, programs and activities. Other previous employment includes Coca-Cola USA, Chicago Urban League, the Southland Corporation, and Toshiba America Information Systems.
Ms. Williams received her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from Georgia State University’s Robinson School of Business; received her Master’s from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois; and received her Bachelor’s from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina.
While she has lived all over the country, she appreciates being “back home” with family while serving the community that gave her a solid foundation.
