A Thank You Note

In light of everything that’s going on across the country, I feel compelled to share a story I’ve only shared with few.

A warm day a couple years ago, I ran out of gas in my 1983 Ford pickup on Joseph E Lowery Boulevard in Atlanta’s Westend.

After a cancer diagnosis I retired early, and I was going through a rough time.

Traffic was going around me fast. No one stopped to help.

From nowhere, a young (police) officer, couldn’t be any older than my grandson, popped up, told me he would push me out the street.

When I looked back he was manually pushing me to the gas station.

Before I could park and get out, he got in his car and pulled off.

I never got a chance to thank him, but I think about him often, with hopes that he’s well.
