Christine B. Lloyd

Christine B. Lloyd was nominated to serve on the Atlanta Citizen Review Board (ARCB) by the President of Atlanta City Council.  She received City Council confirmation May 15, 2024, to serve for a term of three (3) years.

Mrs. Lloyd was born and raised in Camden, South Carolina.  She later married and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she and her husband had three children.  She attended Georgia State University and then later graduated from Saint Leo University with a degree in Criminology.

Christine’s degree led her to a career with the Atlanta Police Department in 1978 where she was primarily responsible for establishing the first civilian union and served as its first president.  Additionally, she was responsible for instigating a change in the smoking policy to create a healthy environment for all employees.  She initiated and promoted attitudinal change regarding sexual harassment in a male dominated environment.  She retired after 31.6 years of service.

While in the department, she continued her educational endeavors with numerous classes and courses offered by the police academy, the City of Atlanta, and outside entities, including a community law course at Emory University sponsored by a local prominent law firm.  Her other endeavors and accomplishments include:

  • Lloyd was chosen as an APD representative to be a panelist for a meeting with former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton;
  • served 25 years in the Georgia Air National Guard (retired as First Sergeant);
  • graduate of the third class of the Atlanta Police Citizens Academy;
  • served as Community Liaison for the late Councilman C.T. Martin;
  • led community effort of construction changes to ML King Drive making it safer;
  • has been managing a polling place for over 20 years.

In addition to currently serving on the ACRB board, Christine serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Hoosier United Methodist Church, chair of the Chalet Peyton Neighborhood Association’s Public Safety Committee, and the co-chair of her NPU’s Public Safety committee.  She is also an author of a community newsletter and a Block captain for her community.
