Michael Hopkins

Michael Hopkins was sworn in by the Municipal Clerk on September 7, 2017 for a three-year term. Hopkins was appointed by the Atlanta Planning Advisory Board (APAB) to serve on the Atlanta Citizen Review Board as the representative for NPUs S-Z.

Mr. Hopkins has been actively involved in his Hammond Park neighborhood and his Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU X). He is the NPU X Chair, a position he has held since 2015. Earlier, he served as the NPU X Vice Chair for 3 years. Hopkins has been an active member of the Hammond Park Neighborhood Association (HPNA) since its inception and over a ten- year period served in various executive roles for the HPNA. His primary focus has been to be a steward for the people of the community to ensure their voices are heard and their needs met through the various agencies and governmental groups in the City of Atlanta and Fulton County.

In addition to the leadership roles, Mr. Hopkins has volunteered with and sat on the Board of the Community Alliance Metropolitan Parkway (C.A.M.P.) where he helped with plans to revitalize and bring new businesses to Dill Ave, Capital View, Capital View Manor, and Sylvan Hills.  He has been involved in the Metropolitan Tax Allocation District (TAD) and sat on the Cleveland Avenue TAD Advisory Committee. 

Academically, Michael Hopkins has a degree in Early Childhood Development, a minor in Business and is currently working toward a degree in Bioscience.  He has been inducted into the National Honor Society and recently elected Vice President of the Bioscience class at Atlanta Technical College.
