Congratulations Police Chief Darin Shierbaum!

Congratulations to the next Atlanta Police Chief Darin Shierbaum who was chosen to replace Rodney Bryant on Monday by, Mayor Andre Dickens. Schierbaum has been serving as the interim chief of police since Bryant’s retirement. The mayor was quoted in a statement saying, “Chief Schierbaum shares my vision for public safety in Atlanta. He has earned my trust, the respect of our community, and the support of the women and men of the Atlanta Police Department. A proponent of 21st Century Policing, Chief Schierbaum will continue building deep ties between the Atlanta police and the community they serve.” Schierbaum joined the force in 2002. He started as a beat cop in Midtown and worked his way through the ranks of the Atlanta Police Department. Schierbaum made his way into command in March 2020 as Deputy Chief, then became assistant chief in 2022. Schierbaum quickly addressed the Atlanta Citizen Review Board’s concern about APD’s lack of responses to ACRB sustained citizen complaints. Under his leadership, the APD achieved an 88% rate of agreement on ACRB allegations sent to the APD at the end of June 2022.
